Dubai leads for the third time in a row: the most popular tourist destinations in the world in 2024 have been chosen

Every year, TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel platform, compiles a rating of the best destinations worldwide that tourists should visit. The list is formed based on travelers' reviews from the past tourist season. The company examines tourists' ratings for accommodation, restaurants, and entertainment in specific parts of the world over 12 months, providing recommendations for travel in the new year.

For the third year in a row, Dubai, UAE, has been named the most popular destination in the world according to the TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards, as reported by the Daily Mail.

TripAdvisor experts explain that Dubai attracts tourists with its diversity, offering impressive skyscrapers, luxury shopping, modern entertainment, beach vacations, unique cuisine, architectural monuments, deserts, and much more.

"Everything in Dubai seems extremely impressive, from the ultra-modern Burj Khalifa to the bazaars and shopping centers filled with gold and jewelry sellers. It's a place where if you have dreams, you can make them come true. Whether it's skiing indoors, dune surfing in the desert, or flying a zipline over the city," write TripAdvisor representatives.

Bali in Indonesia is in second place, while London, UK, received bronze in this ranking and gold in the list of the most popular destinations among European cities. Hanoi in Vietnam and Rome in Italy round out the rest of the top five in the world's top five. New York City took the highest rating among American destinations.

Other popular destinations in the world that made the top 10 are Paris (sixth), Cancun (seventh), Marrakech (eighth), Crete (ninth), and Hanoi in Vietnam (10th). Meanwhile, the European ranking includes the following cities: Rome (second place), Paris (third), Crete (fourth), Istanbul (fifth), Barcelona (sixth), Madrid (seventh), Lisbon (eighth), Amsterdam (ninth), and Florence (tenth).

TripAdvisor has also compiled a separate list of the "most trendy destinations in 2024". And here, the Japanese capital Tokyo won.

"The city is known for its modernity, but its ancient Buddhist temples, old teahouses, and peaceful gardens offer a serene escape - and a reminder of its past," the platform's experts comment.

The silver medal went to the capital of South Korea, Seoul, where TripAdvisor advises visiting the N Seoul Tower, "built on top of a peak in Namsan Park," and Insadong teahouses, which "give you a taste of Korean flavor." Another Asian destination, Halong Bay in Vietnam, rounds out the top three. Also in the top 10 are Palawan Island (Philippines), the mountain village of Sapa (Vietnam), Bogota (Colombia), Pattaya (Thailand), Alajuela (Costa Rica), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

In particular, in the new year, a new system of entry to the EU may start working, which provides for increased control at the borders of the Schengen zone.
