How to remove mould stains on home textiles and clothes: life hacks
When you take your seasonal clothes out of the closet, you will often notice mould stains. This type of fungus spreads very quickly in places where there is excessive humidity. It is advisable to ventilate all rooms regularly to ensure good free air circulation.
Mouldy clothes are not easy to clean. Sante Plus offers simple and effective tips to help remove mould.
Sugar against mould
Cleaning expert Flavia Ferrari offers a simple, eco-friendly and inexpensive life hack. She advises using it on white clothes, as bright colours can fade.
Add 100 ml of bleach and 3 tablespoons of sugar to a bowl of warm water. Mix thoroughly and then soak the dirty clothes. Leave the clothes for a few minutes to allow the ingredients to work. After that, rinse the clothes in clean water and run the washing cycle in the machine.
Baking soda
Baking soda is known for its deodorising and absorbent properties. Moreover, regular washing of clothes with baking soda will soften and whiten them. Mix water, 1 tablespoon of laundry detergent and 3 tablespoons of baking soda in a container of water. Experts advise soaking clothes for at least 20 minutes and then washing them in a machine.
Lemon juice
There is another effective remedy - lemon juice. This life hack is also suitable for white and light coloured clothes. Mix 2 litres of warm water, the juice of 2 lemons, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of soap. Soak the dirty laundry in the solution and let it sit for at least an hour. In addition to getting rid of stains, lemon leaves a pleasant scent on your clothes.
Hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is also used to fight mould. The recipe is simple: mix water and hydrogen peroxide in a 4:1 ratio. Experts advise using this life hack only for fabrics such as linen and cotton.
