TV presenter Valentyna Khamaiko confessed why she has not celebrated the New Year for many years
Valentyna Khamaiko, a TV presenter for 1+1 Ukraine and mother of four, does not celebrate New Year's Eve on December 31 because her youngest daughter Myroslava was born on that day. According to the TV star, all the attention from her family goes to her daughter.
Valentyna Khamaiko said this in an interview with OBOZ.UA. The TV presenter also admitted whether her husband, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, would be with the family on New Year's holidays.
"With the birth of our third child on December 31, we celebrate only the birthday of our daughter Myroslava on this day, all attention belongs to her," the TV presenter explained, "and that's why Christmas has become the main winter holiday for us. There are no New Year's gifts, only Christmas ones. Starting in November, I started listening carefully to what children dream about, and what they want. I write everything down and then try to fulfill these wishes. For five years in a row, I have been preparing boxes of fruit for St. Nicholas Day as an echo of something sunny that is missing now. I don't put candy in on purpose, because there are too many of them around in December. Every year I add something new to these fruit boxes because it's a good way to learn about the world."
"The year before last, we didn't manage to sit at the festive table on Christmas Eve," the TV presenter recalls. "My husband was in the service, and I didn't even have the inspiration to put together all the dishes. Moreover, I was so preoccupied with everyday moments that I came to my senses and made dinner not on the evening of December 24, but on December 25. My children say to me: "Mom, why today?" I answer: "Because it's Christmas Eve." "It was yesterday," they say. "How?" I asked again. I even got confused about the dates, it was so hard. Then I thought: "Okay, let's say it was on the 25th, but we'll still have at least a little bit of the holiday." And last year we had a full-fledged Christmas."
"My husband Andrii will also be with us for the holidays," Valentyna added. "After his son's death, he was transferred closer to us. He needed to work with a psychologist, and then he got a new assignment. Now he spends most of his time in Kyiv, but once a month he goes on a combat assignment. This time he will be deployed after the New Year."
