Cream cheese is a versatile addition to rolls, pancakes and a variety of snacks. In addition, it can be easily prepared at home. Such spread is traditionally based on kefir, sour cream, yogurt or cream, supplemented with herbs or savory spices.

Food blogger Irina Kozachuk(irina_kozachuk_) on her Instagram page shared a recipe for homemade cream cheese from sour cream and yogurt.

Homemade cream cheese recipe

Ingredients:

  • sour cream - 370 g
  • natural thick yogurt - 300 gr
  • salt - 0,5 tsp.
  • lemon juice - 1 tsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Pour the sour cream, add the yogurt, salt and lemon juice into a bowl. Mix thoroughly.

2. Take a saucepan, set a sieve on top and cover it with gauze (it should be folded in 3-4 layers beforehand). Pour the sour cream mass into the prepared container.

3. Cover again with gauze and leave in such a form in a fridge for 12 hours. Done!

On a side note: this amount of ingredients makes 420 grams of cream cheese.
