Macron offers the world an "Olympic truce"

French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed hope for an "Olympic truce" in the wars between Russia and Ukraine and Israel and Hamas. The politician believes that the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Paris should be a "moment of diplomatic peace."

The French leader said this in a commentary to RMC and BFMTV. He said that he plans to involve many partners in working on this truce.

In particular, Macron noted that he would seek help from Chinese President Xi Jinping, who will visit Paris in a few weeks. The President of the Republic, in particular, recalled that his Chinese counterpart had "the same job" in 2022 during the Winter Olympics.

"We want to work on an Olympic truce, and I think this is an opportunity that I will try to involve many of our partners in," Macron said.

The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in Paris, France, from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The Russian national swimming team will not compete at the 2024 Olympic Games. The team's head coach, Sergei Chepik, called the Olympics a tournament of "NATO countries and their minions." Russian national fencing team representatives will also not participate in the 2024 Olympic Games.
