Zelenskyy ordered to dismiss the scandalous Odesa military commissar and check all heads of territorial recruitment centres

Zelenskyy urgently instructed Zaluzhnyi to immediately dismiss scandalous Odesa military commander

During a meeting of the Commander-in-Chief's Staff on Friday, 23 June, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi to dismiss Yevhen Borysov, head of the Odesa recruitment centre, from his post. Journalists discovered that the military commissar owned a villa in Spain.

The head of state announced the dismissal of the Odesa military commissar on his Telegram channel. He noted that at a meeting of the Security Council, the participants discussed the scandalous incident with Borisov.

"I gave an urgent instruction to Chief Commander Zaluzhnyi to immediately dismiss the Odesa 'military commissar' - the head of the local recruitment centre, who is the subject of much talk," Zelensky said.

The President also instructed to urgently set up a commission under the leadership of First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine General Oleksandr Pavliuk, together with the law enforcement and NAPC, to check all military commissars in all regions of Ukraine.

"So that they do not disgrace our country and the memory of the heroes who are dying at the front," the President stressed.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, in the spring of 2023, Yevhen Borysov was suspended from his duties as head of the Odesa Territorial Centre for Recruitment and Social Support for the duration of the investigation into his involvement in corruption. The military was accused of importing a premium car under the guise of humanitarian aid.

He also "glorified" Spanish Marbella: according to media reports, during the full-scale war, his mother became the owner of an elite villa on the Mediterranean coast worth several million euros, and his wife - of an office. In the investigation "Spain Battalion", journalists told about the luxury real estate and expensive cars registered in the names of the Odesa military commissar's relatives, and also recorded what Borysov himself said about it.

After an internal investigation into the legality of the military commissar's trip abroad under martial law was completed, Borysov returned to his post after his suspension
