President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wants to negotiate on surrender terms with Ukraine. The Head of State assured that Kyiv would not accept the aggressor's terms.

The President also emphasized that he expects the support of Ukraine from the newly elected US President Donald Trump. Zelenskyy said this in an interview with Suspilne on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Ukrainian Radio.

According to the president, Ukraine must be strong not only on the battlefield but also in diplomacy. Zelenskyy noted that support for our country means support for values and justice, so neutrality on the part of the mediator is impossible.

"That Ukraine will not be alone with Russia, provided that Ukraine is strong. What kind of negotiations can we have with a murderer? If we are talking to Putin, and we are not strong in the conditions we are in now, this is a losing status for Ukraine. This is not about a just peace. Of course, in a weak situation, there is nothing to do in these negotiations," the president explained.

Zelenskyy emphasized that after the presidential election, the United States should maintain its position of support for Ukraine and treat Russia as an aggressor. The Head of State noted that in this regard, Trump's position and America's mood in general are very important for Ukraine.

"Trump's position is very important, America's attitude towards Ukraine is very important. They are on the side of Ukraine today. You can't say in the abstract: I'm a mediator, so I can't choose one side or the other. This cannot be in violation of international law," Zelenskyy said.

Earlier it was reported that Putin continues his campaign to influence the West. He seeks to force Ukraine's Western partners to put pressure on our country by reducing military aid and insisting on negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Serhii Dzherdzh, chairman of the NATO-Ukraine Civic League, said that Trump's peace initiatives to resolve the war in Ukraine look strange. If it is about dividing the country and making territorial concessions, it will only postpone the continuation of the war for some time.
