Zelensky named the Heroes who died in the battles for Snake Island

The head of state thanked everyone who liberated the island

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the first anniversary of the liberation of Snake Island named the Heroes who died in the battles. The guarantor stated that this was a fundamental defense task: to ensure the safety of Snake Island, a significant part of the Black Sea water area.

This was stated by the head of state during his traditional evening address on June 30. He thanked everyone who liberated the island (to see the video, scroll to the end of the page).

"I am grateful to everyone who liberated Snake Island! Defence intelligence, along with other units of our nation's defense and security forces, conducted the operation. The Main Intelligence Directorate and the SSU's Special Unit "Alpha", the Naval Forces and Army Aviation Command, the Air Force Aviation and our stalwart Border Guards. Thank you!," the head of state said.

He noted that Ukrainians will always remember the heroes who gave their lives for this Ukrainian victory.

"Of those whose names can now be called... Defence intelligence fighters: Ruslan Popov, Hero of Ukraine, captain of the 1st rank; Oleh Zaitsev, Hero of Ukraine, junior lieutenant; Vitaly Ihnatenko, Hero of Ukraine, soldier. Soldiers of SSU's "Alpha": Volodymyr Kyseliov, Hero of Ukraine, captain; Oleksandr Krykunenko, Hero of Ukraine, major. Naval soldiers:Ihor Bedzai, Hero of Ukraine, colonel; Mykhailo Zaremba, major; Serhiy Muschytsky, captain; Yuriy Pyroh, staff sergeant. Eternal memory!
