"There were six direct hits": Budanov shares new details of the Ivanovets missile boat defeat
The Russian military boat Ivanovets was attacked with new Ukrainian MAGURA 5 drones . The attack on the vessel was planned and carried out on January 31-February 1.
The head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, told this in a commentary to Warzone. According to him, the maritime drones were operated by a drone unit of the 13th Group of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
Budanov clarified that the drones hit the hull six times. The boat was based on the Black Sea coast near Lake Donuzlav in western Crimea.
"During special measures between January 31 and February 1, the agency planned and carried out the destruction of the Ivanivets on the road to Lake Donuzlav. During the destruction of the vessel, the drones hit the hull six times. As a result of the damage, the ship capsized and sank. According to preliminary data, the enemy's search and rescue operation was unsuccessful," the head of Ukrainian intelligence said.
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian state-owned company Spetstechnoekport presented the MAGURA V5 maritime unmanned drone at the international arms exhibition in Turkey in the summer of 2023.
According to the information published by Spetstechnoexport, the MAGURA V5 marine drone can reach a maximum speed of 78 km/h, and the cruising speed is about 40 km/h. The drone is 5.5 meters long, 1.5 meters wide, and only 0.5 meters above the waterline.
MAGURA V5 can also hit targets at a considerable distance of up to 450 nautical miles (about 830 km). However, one of the main advantages of the drone is its ability to carry about 300 kg of warhead.
As a reminder, on the night of February 1, the Ivanovets was destroyed by the soldiers of the Group 13 special unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. The Russian Black Sea Fleet missile boat was raiding Lake Donuzlav in the temporarily occupied Crimea. As a result of a number of direct hits to the hull, the ship sustained significant damage, heeled over and sank.
As reported, Russian media reported that there were missiles on board the Russian boat Ivanovets. According to preliminary data, these are supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles Moskit. At the same time, propagandists claim that the crew allegedly managed to evacuate.
The Ivanovets missile boat destroyed by the fighters of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense could have had up to 40 crew members. Search and rescue operations were underway.
