"The priority is the defense of the state": Zelenskyy spoke about changes in the work of the National Security and Defense Council and named the priority tasks
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the start of the renewed work of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. According to the head of state, the defense of the country and the protection of its society will remain a priority.
Zelenskyy made the announcement on his official Telegram channel on March 29. He also posted a video of a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council with the newly updated composition, during which he introduced the new secretary.
"We are starting the renewed work of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. The first thing is more predictability, this particular function. We need to strengthen Ukraine's ability to predict and influence the processes on which the national security of our country depends. The second is the continuation of all current tasks of the NSDC system. And especially concerning the sanctions policy of our state," the President said.
The third important area of the body's work will be doctrinal work, Zelenskyy said.
"The clarity of national guidelines and systematic implementation of them is what is needed both now and after the war," he explained.
The fourth is cybersecurity and information. According to the President of Ukraine, the National Security and Defense Council has the potential to do more to protect against Russian destabilization operations and coordinate all state institutions in this area.
"And fifthly, the work of the Stavka, draft decisions, control over the implementation of decisions – all this, of course, must continue. The obvious priority is the defense of our state and the protection of our society," Zelenskyy summarized.
