Britain supports Ukraine

On Friday, January 12, British Prime Minister Sunak arrived in Ukraine on an official visit. In Kyiv, he announced the largest package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 2.5 billion pounds.

It will include shells, missiles, and training for the Ukrainian military. The British prime minister announced after a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Sunak noted that Britain is providing Ukraine with the largest defense aid package since the beginning of the war.

"Today, the UK would like to announce the largest package of defense aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the war, in the amount of 2.5 billion pounds," he said.

Among other things, 200 million pounds of the new package will be allocated for new drones.

"2.5 billion pounds, more missiles, hundreds of thousands of shells, training for thousands of Ukrainian soldiers, 200 million pounds will be allocated for hundreds of thousands of new drones," the British Prime Minister said.

As a reminder, the deputy head of the Russian Security Council and former president of the aggressor country, Dmitry Medvedev, issued a new round of threats to the UK over Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's visit to Kyiv. He said that the deployment of an "official military contingent" in Ukraine by London would allegedly mean a declaration of war against Russia.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on January 2, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak held their first telephone talks in 2024. They discussed the continuation of defense cooperation with a focus on further strengthening the air defense and long-range capabilities of the Armed Forces.
