Parents of the fallen Hero handed over their son's chevron to Zaluzhnyi

The parents of Ukrainian defender Dmytro Tserakhto handed over their son's chevron to the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi. They asked the military to honor the memory of the fallen Hero of Ukraine.

Zaluzhnyi himself spoke about this. He showed a letter from his parents and a photo of Dmytro.

Dmytro Tserakhto had the call sign "Greek," was a platoon sergeant and served in the Third Separate Assault Brigade. Like most Ukrainians, he believed in victory. Dmytro also had great respect for Zaluzhnyi.

By a decree of President Zelenskyy on December 6, 2023, he was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and the Order of the Golden Star. Unfortunately, posthumously.

"We received his award from the President of Ukraine together with you on the same day, but we were too shy to come up to you, express our respect, and hand over this chevron. Therefore, we ask you to honor the memory of our son and accept it now," said Valeriy and Tetiana Tserakhto.

"Tetiana and Valeriy. The chevron came to me. I have it... Let's remember everyone..." said the former commander of the Armed Forces.

Dmytro Tserakhto, 25, was killed during an enemy assault on positions near Bakhmut in January 2023.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Russian criminals took the life of another courageous defender of Ukraine – a soldier from Ivano-Frankivsk region, Vitaliy Mykytsiy, was killed on the battlefield. The 29-year-old soldier had two daughters waiting for him at home.
