Valeriy Zaluzhny
Valeriy Zaluzhniy is a general, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a member of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
Short biographyZaluzhnyi was born on July 8, 1973 in Novograd-Volynsky in Zhitomir region.
A career military officer.
He graduated with honors from the Combined Arms Department of the Odessa Institute of the Ground Forces.
In 2020, he graduated with a master's degree in international relations from the Ostroh Academy.
Zaluzhny's service record:
2007-2009 - commander of the 24th separate mechanized brigade;
2009-2012 - commander of the 51st Independent Mechanized Brigade;
2017 - Chief of Staff - First Deputy Commander of the Troops of Operational Command "West" of the Ground Forces of the AFU;
2018 - Head of the Joint Operational Staff of the AFU - First Deputy Commander of the Joint Forces;
since 2019 - commander of the troops of the Operational Command "North";
since July 27, 2021 - Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
