Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky awarded Ukraine's Ambassador to the UK, former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi with a medal. This is the medal "For Merit in Diplomacy."
Jan Lipavsky noted that he met with Zaluzhnyi during his visit to London. The Czech official wrote about this on the social network X.
"His courage and personal example were crucial in repelling Russian aggression, which is an attack on all free and democratic countries. Therefore, I awarded him the Medal for Merit in Diplomacy," the Czech minister said.
The Medal for Merit in Diplomacy is one of two awards of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It has been awarded since 2019 for contributions to Czech diplomacy, its foreign policy, the development of foreign relations of the Czech Republic, and the strengthening of peace in the world.
Interestingly, on the day he received the award, former Foreign Minister Zaluzhnyi also posted online about an unexpected meeting in London. But it was a meeting with children from Ukraine.
In particular, the Ukrainian military man and diplomat was in the Palace of Westminster (where the British Parliament is located).
"Suddenly, I saw a large group of children wearing embroidered shirts, who were listening attentively to the story of a British MP. I slowed down and quietly approached them. These were our children – despite the cold, they lit up and warmed this majestic building in their beautiful white embroidered shirts. The spontaneous meeting was not long, but full of warmth and positive emotions," wrote the former head of the Armed Forces.
