Neizhpapa: now the enemy is afraid of approaching Odessa, there is a "gray zone" between us
The commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Navy, Vice-Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, has said that the Russian occupants are afraid to approach Odessa at a distance of less than 100 nautical miles. According to him, there is now a "gray zone" between the Ukrainian troops and the enemy, which covers 25 thousand square kilometers.
At the same time, he stressed that the enemy currently has an air advantage in this part of the Black Sea. Neizhpapa told about this in an interview with ArmyInform.
The vice-admiral noted that at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Russian fleet had much more potential than Ukraine. However, according to the naval commander, Ukraine did not stand still and was building the fleet.
"A striking example of this, in particular, is the implementation of missile programs approved by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Thanks to their implementation, the Ukrainian missile system "Neptun" was created. Among the people who implemented the missile programmes were my former subordinate missile engineers, who had experience using cruise missiles back in the Crimea. And it is thanks to them, to these people today the enemy does not approach the coast of Odessa at a distance of less than 100 nautical miles, and there is now a "gray zone" between us and the enemy, which covers 25 thousand square kilometers," said Neizhpapa.
He also stated that the Russian occupants have an air advantage over the Black Sea. Therefore, Ukraine needs Western functional F-16 fighters not only for successful operations on land, but also at sea.
In addition, Neizhpapa stressed that Ukraine's missile capabilities have increased since the large-scale invasion. This is primarily due to the arrival of new missile weapons and other assistance from our Western partners.
"You know that the Navy now has an anti-ship system Harpoon, which has proved itself very well during combat operations to protect our state. This complex, in particular, sank a Russian supply vessel that had Tor SAMs on board and was on its way to Snake Island to provide weapons for the Russian garrison and to deliver a fresh batch of occupants for reinforcement," the naval commander noted.
We shall remind you that at the end of May, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian terrorist country decided once again to entertain the Russians with virtual victories in the war against Ukraine. This time, the occupation army destroyed the Ukrainian Navy ship Yuri Olefirenko in its fantasies. Moreover, the Russian Ministry of Defense issued that it was already the last combat ship of Ukraine . However, propaganda tales did not find much support among Russians.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian Federation began the illegal scrapping of ships of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Navy. The occupants seized them in Sevastopol and Donuzlave during the occupation of Crimea.
