Oleksii Leonidovich Neizhpapa is the Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Short biography

Neizhpapa was born on October 9, 1975 in Sevastopol, Ukraine.

In 1997 he graduated from Sevastopol Naval Institute.

For the next three years he was the commander of the anti-aircraft missile battery of the missile and artillery unit of the frigate "Sevastopol".

Subsequently, from 2000 till 2006 he served from senior assistant commander of corvette "Lutsk" to commander of trawler "Cherkassy".

Then during one year Neizhpapa was the deputy commander of the South naval base.

In 2007-2008 he was the Chief of Staff - First Deputy Commander of the 1st Brigade of Surface Ships, and further, until 2012, he was the Head of this connection.

For the next three years he served as First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Command of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On several occasions he was in charge of the Ukrainian-American Sea Breeze exercise on the Ukrainian side.

Since January 2015 he became deputy commander of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for combat training. He was a participant in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine.

Appointment

Neizhpapa was appointed commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by decree of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on June 11, 2020.
