NATO will provide Ukraine with "billions of euros of additional capabilities" in 2024, - Stoltenberg
At a meeting with Ukraine, NATO allies reassured the country that they will continue to provide "extensive military, economic and humanitarian assistance" amid Russia's nearly two-year-long invasion. Thus, NATO members plan to provide Ukraine with "additional opportunities worth billions of euros" in 2024.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg made the statement at the NATO conference. Ukraine was represented at the meeting by Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of the Kyiv Air Force, and Deputy Interior Minister Oleksiy Sergeyev.
"NATO strongly condemns Russia's missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian civilians, including with weapons from North Korea and Iran. As Moscow intensifies its attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilians, NATO Allies are stepping up Ukraine's air defense," Stoltenberg said.
Earlier, President Zelensky said that he expects the Alliance summit to make defense and political decisions. In terms of defense, he emphasized the strengthening of our air defense. As for political decisions, he said, "I want to get at least one concrete step towards NATO."
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, NATO member states continue initiatives to support Ukrainian air operations to counter Russian strikes. The partners are discussing providing Kyiv with F-16 aircraft along with instructors to train pilots.
