Finland has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, following a government proposal on November 17, when President Sauli Niinistö made the decision. What exactly was included in the 20th package, worth about 100 million euros, was not disclosed for security reasons.
The announcement of the allocation of another batch of defense equipment appeared on the website of the Finnish Ministry of Defense. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the news, thanking his Finnish counterpart and the Finnish government for their assistance in bringing peace, for which Finland has already spent about 1.5 billion euros.
On November 17, the Finnish Ministry of Defense announced the transfer of the 20th package of military assistance to Ukraine, worth about 100 million euros.
"The prospects for security in Europe and Finland in the current decade are at stake in Ukraine's defense struggle. Together with our allies, we remain unwavering in our commitment to support the Ukrainians," said Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen.
The contents of the package, which includes military equipment, are not detailed.
"For operational reasons and to ensure that the aid reaches its destination safely, no further information about the contents of the package, the method of delivery or the schedule will be provided," the Finnish Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Zelensky reacted to the decision of the Finnish leadership to continue supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russian armed aggression.
"I am grateful to President Sauli Niinistö and the Finnish government for the decision to provide Ukraine with a new defense assistance package. In total, Finland's military assistance has already amounted to 1.5 billion euros. This support strengthens not only Ukraine, but also the security of Finland and the rest of our Europe. I appreciate the fulfillment of our agreements and Finland's principled position on the path to a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine and throughout Europe," the Head of State emphasized.
As reported earlier, Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov discussed joint weapons production with his Italian counterpart. The heads of the defense ministries of Italy and Ukraine also talked about military assistance to the Ukrainian army to be used against the occupiers at the front.
In addition, it became known that the German Bundestag did not support the provision of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, and Denmark provided the Ukrainian Navy with autonomous hydrographic systems that will help collect accurate data on the underwater environment and identify hidden threats to ships.
