Explosions and shooting were heard in Crimea: the occupiers blocked traffic on the Kerch Bridge. Video

Illegally built by the occupiers Kerch (Crimean) bridge

On the morning of Friday, August 16, explosions were heard in Crimea, temporarily occupied by Russian troops, after which the occupation "authorities" in Sevastopol complained about a UAV attack. It was also loud in Kerch, Feodosia, and Chornomorske: a ferry crossing and a boat were hit.

The occupiers blocked traffic on the illegally built Kerch Bridge. The Crimean Wind Telegram channel claimed that Russian air defense systems were working over Kerch, publishing relevant videos.

The channel's authors wrote that there might have been a hit on Mount Mithridat, where the Russian army's "Pantsir-S1" air defense system was stationed, and that a massive fire allegedly broke out there after the explosion. Later, eyewitnesses denied that the attack was on the occupiers' equipment.

"According to the subscribers, most likely, the missiles went down and he was shooting randomly, it flew into the area of the bus station in the yards," the message says.

Later, the channel reported that in Kerch, smoke was "pouring out of the ferry crossing of the JV MIS". Also, something was burning in the Kamenka area near Simferopol.

At the same time, explosions were also heard in Sevastopol. The Kremlin-appointed "governor" Mikhail Razvozhayev claimed a UAV attack. A representative of the occupiers said that three drones were allegedly shot down over the city.

"Crimean Wind" reported that at 04:31 an explosion occurred in Chornomorske, approximately in the area of the Narrow Bay.

"Helicopters are patrolling over Chornomorske and shooting was heard," Crimean Wind wrote, citing its subscribers.

According to them, a second explosion in the area occurred at 04.59, and the shooting continued.

"Night attack on Crimea, preliminary damage: ferry crossing in the port of Kerch; boat in Chornomorske. Further reconnaissance is ongoing," said Serhii Bratchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army "South".

For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry reported "intercepting and destroying" five UAVs over the Black Sea. It also claimed that the occupiers' regular firepower "destroyed two unmanned boats" heading toward the peninsula.

At the same time, satellites recorded several fires on the outskirts of Kerch, where explosions were heard at night. It is noted that the fire broke out in the area of the Kerch stele.
