Everyone in Ukraine wants the war to end as soon as possible but in a fair way. To do this, our country needs to have a strong position. And this can be achieved by giving Ukraine certainty about membership in NATO and the European Union.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with the Japanese newspaper Kyodo. He said what is needed to end the war in Ukraine.

"We want to end the war as soon as possible because each of us wants to witness a just peace, and as soon as possible. I do not want us to count our victims, it is very painful. Of course, they gave the most important thing – their lives – for our freedom, but I, like everyone else, want the war to end and for us to happily count how many children we have, which means so much for the future of our country," Zelenskyy said.

According to him, a strong position is the certainty of when Ukraine will join NATO and the EU.

"In Ukraine, from the point of view of our geography, geopolitics, history, and modern challenges of our neighborhood, certainty with NATO is very important for us. This is the most realistic guarantee of security for Ukraine. Also, the position on the EU. It is also a guarantee of security for Ukraine in terms of the market, in terms of our economy," the President emphasized.

"The certainty of joining NATO and the European Union is not only a course enshrined in our Constitution but also real actions. First of all, Ukraine must understand when and how it will become a part of these two security organizations, the Head of State emphasized. According to him, there are no alternatives to NATO, as the Budapest Memorandum and the Minsk agreements show.

In addition, Ukraine needs long-range weapons, air defense, strengthening of the Armed Forces, and sanctions to maintain a strong position. This is all detailed in the Victory Plan, Zelenskyy emphasized.
