Record updated: DIU: Magura V5 drones destroy two Russian helicopters in the Black Sea
Soldiers of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine set a record for destroying Russian helicopters using Magura V5 maritime drones. Two enemy Mi-8s were shot down over the Black Sea, most likely with the entire crew.
This historic operation took place on December 31. The DIU reported updated information on the aggressor's losses on January 2.
"The record has been updated – two Russian helicopters were destroyed by Magury missiles in the Black Sea... Glory to Ukraine!" the post reads.
Thus, according to the updated data, as a result of a successful operation of the special forces of the Group 13 unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine near the temporarily occupied Crimea on December 31, 2024, not one, as previously reported, but two Mi-8s of the Russian army were destroyed.
Both enemy sides were hit by Magura V5s equipped with P-73 SeeDragon missiles. Preliminary, the crews of these Mi-8s were also eliminated.
"Another Russian helicopter was hit by fire and managed to land," the DIU informed.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on December 31, the DIU released a radio interception of a Russian Mi-8 pilot who complained that he had been shot down. The occupier also said in a panic that the launch was made from the water, and his comrade's helicopter crashed.
After these events, Russia suddenly recognized the simultaneous loss of a significant number of pilots, which had not been seen since 2022. It is assumed that this refers to the crew of Mi-8 helicopters that were shot down by Ukrainian naval drones near Crimea.
