NATO commanders held a secret meeting with Zaluzhnyi on the Polish border: The Guardian reveals details

The meeting took place 11 days ago

The NATO command held a secret meeting with the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, on the Polish border. The purpose of the military council was to reset Ukraine's military strategy.

The Guardian reports this, citing information from its own sources. The meeting took place 11 days ago.

The head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine took his entire command staff to the meeting with some high-ranking members of the NATO command, including the commander of the US forces in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, and British Admiral Sir Anthony Radakin.

It is noted that the participants called the meeting a "military council", where they discussed what to do about Ukraine's counter-offensive, combat plans for the upcoming gruelling winter, and long-term strategy.

This was not the first such meeting. The border summit took place in part after Radakin travelled to Kyiv, where he held an unannounced 45-minute meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the purpose of which defence sources say was to better understand Ukraine's strategy and how the West could help.

British sources have been reluctant to talk about the outcome of the meeting at the border. However, all indications are that the discussions resulted in a change in strategy.

"I think you can see that they are concentrating on the Zaporizhzhia front," said one source, amid reports of new Ukrainian attacks targeting the city of Tokmak, the first step on the road to the Sea of Azov.

As a reminder, Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, stressed that the counter-offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which began in June, is going according to plan. He explained that it was a complex operation because the Russian occupiers were well prepared.

Earlier, Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov admitted that the Defence Forces had "fallen behind schedule" in the liberation of the occupied territories and Crimea in particular. Events are developing more slowly than expected, but Ukraine continues to move towards its goal.
