UAF is preparing for an extraordinary congress

On January 12, a meeting of the working group on organizing and holding the extraordinary XXVI Congress of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) was held at the Football House in Kyiv, where a new president of the federation is to be elected. Its current head, Andriy Pavelko, is likely to leave his post.

As you know, the UAF Executive Committee has instructed the UAF administration and presidium to take all measures provided for in the charter to prepare and hold the event. Control over the implementation of this decision is entrusted to the first vice-president of the UAF Vadym Kostyuchenko, the official website of the UAF reports.

"Preparations for the congress are proceeding according to the approved schedule. All relevant services and departments of the association are involved in the process. We currently have confirmation of participation in the Congress of delegates from all UAF members. We also continue to receive confirmations from invited honored guests. In particular, Oleg Blokhin and Ihor Belanov, the winners of the Golden Ball, have been invited to the congress. The head coach of the Ukrainian national team Serhiy Rebrov will also be there. The head of the NOC of Ukraine Vadym Hutzayt and the acting Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matviy Bidnyi also confirmed their arrival at the Football House. The details of the visit of FIFA and UEFA representatives and individual associations of European countries are being finalized," Vadym Kostyuchenko said during the meeting.

According to the decision of the UAF Executive Committee, the extraordinary XXVI Congress of the UAF will be held on January 25, 2024 at the Football House (Kyiv, starting at 12:00). The only candidate for the post of the new president of the association is Andriy Shevchenko.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Andriy Shevchenko refused the offer to lead the Azerbaijani national team, saying that he no longer intends to work as a coach.
