"We don't dance on bones": Russia cynically reacts to threat to suspend Ukraine's national team from the 2024 Olympics

Agapitov commented on the Marushchak scandal

The head of the Russian Weightlifting Federation (RWF), Maxim Agapitov, has spoken cynically about the possible disqualification of the Ukrainian national team due to the doping scandal. The representative of the aggressor country, reacting to the possible skipping of the 2024 Olympics in Paris by our team, used the expression "dance on bones".

Agapitov said this in an interview with the propaganda news agency R-Sport. He said that Russians would allegedly be very upset if the blue and yellows were not allowed to participate in the Games after weightlifter Alina Marushchak was caught using banned substances.

"We will not be relieved if Ukrainians are not allowed to participate in the Olympic Games. We do not dance on the bones of our rivals. We are all brothers and sisters until we step on the platform, and then we become rivals. We have one big family that loves to play sports, but there are third forces that are interfering in our affairs today and pushing us head-on. We do not follow the leash of manipulators. The mission of sport is to reconcile people," Agapitov said.

It should be noted that Marushchak became the third representative of Ukrainian weightlifting after Tokyo 2020 last year to be caught for doping. Earlier, Ruslan Kozhakin and Bohdan Taranenko tested positive. If all the athletes are proven guilty, an independent commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) may deprive our country of its quota for participation in the 2024 Games in this sport.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine issued an order to boycott the competition, which will feature athletes from Russia and Belarus, after the IOC published the conditions for admission to the tournaments of representatives of the aggressor countries.
