Usyk tells what he will do if Fury refuses to fight on May 18

Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) has confirmed that he will take to the ring on May 18, regardless of who his opponent is. According to our compatriot, in case Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) refuses again, the Ukrainian's team has a backup option.

Usyk told about it in an interview with Boxing Social. The former absolute heavyweight champion of the world emphasized that he was very happy to see Fury return to training after he was cut in sparring, which is why the fight with him had to be postponed until May.

"I will definitely fight on May 18, and my training will not be in vain. But I'm very glad that Tyson is recovering quickly from his injury and has already returned to training. It doesn't matter who the opponent is. It just so happens that Tyson Fury is standing in my way of becoming an absolute heavyweight champion. But if Tyson does not want to fight and decides to give up his belt, I will gladly fight for it with whoever the World Boxing Council (WBC) appoints as a contender," Usyk said.

It should be noted that Fury is facing a multi-million dollar fine for refusing to fight the Ukrainian. The relevant clause is spelled out in the contract, which provides for two fights between the boxers. At the same time, promoter Eddie Hearn intends to disrupt the rematch if Tyson wins.

In turn, British fans questioned their compatriot's ability to beat Wisdom. The legendary Lennox Lewis also spoke about the fight and urged not to write off the Ukrainian. In addition, the fees of Oleksandr and Tyson for the fight were announced.

As a reminder, the Usyk-Fury fight was originally scheduled to take place on February 17, but was postponed to May 18 due to Tyson's injury.
