Usyk has an unexpected option to continue his career
Former absolute world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) may fight several fights in mixed martial arts after his rematch with Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs). In addition, the possibility that the Ukrainian boxer will again fight in the heavyweight division is being seriously considered.
This was stated by the athlete's trainer Sergey Lapin in an interview with the British newspaper Mirror. According to him, with his victory over Fury, his client proved that he is the strongest heavyweight on the planet and is preparing for the next steps in his career.
"Right now we're focused on the rematch with Tyson Fury. And after that, we'll see who's next. Usyk has proven that he is the best in this generation. And after he retires Fury, he will consider different options. Maybe he'll drop down in weight, or maybe he'll have an option with MMA or even a bare-knuckle championship in front of him. Can you imagine a third fight with Anthony Joshua in the octagon?" Lapin said.
Fury and Usyk will rematch on December 21. We already know the fantastic prize money for the second fight. Two weeks ago, our compatriot gave up the belt of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and lost the title of absolute world champion.
Later it became known that the IBF left Usyk no choice. This situation angered the head of the Absolute Fighting Championship (IBF), Dana White.
Oleksandr also announced his radical plan to continue his career after the rematch with Tyson. Usyk named the most difficult moment of the fight with the Briton. Our boxer also spoke frankly about his opponent.
