Usyk came out with a poster before the fight with Fury. Photo fact
WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) attracted attention at the weigh-in for his rematch with Tyson Fury by unfurling a poster that read "Free Azovstal Defenders." The ceremony took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In this way, the 37-year-old Ukrainian boxer expressed his support for the captured "Azovstal" defenders and reminded them of the fate of Ukrainian soldiers held in Russian prisons.
Usyk also posted photos of the poster on his Instagram.
This gesture was reminiscent of the act of Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh, who also unfurled a poster with a similar inscription in the summer. Her actions caused a wide response, attracted the attention of the international community, and became a symbol of support for Ukrainian soldiers.
Usyk is known for his active civic position. He has repeatedly spoken about the importance of remembering Ukraine's defenders and supported initiatives aimed at helping the army and those affected by the war.
