Usyk answered the question of whether he is ready to go to war against Russia and spoke about his dead friends

The unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (34-0-1, 24 KOs) expressed his readiness to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine if necessary. Our boxer added that many of his friends were killed in the war against the Russian occupiers or were seriously injured.

Usyk said this in an interview with the authoritative publication The Times. The Ukrainian champion emphasized that he actively supports the defenders of our country, noting their high morale and optimism, which is many times higher than the mood among civilians.

"I am ready to go to the front if necessary. It's terrible when a guy loses an arm and a leg. I have many friends who are now defending our country from the enemy. Some of them have been killed. Some have lost limbs. I visit them, talk to them, and help them as much as I can, their brave hearts are still beating. They have not lost heart. They are more positive than people who do not have to think about the war all the time," Usyk said.

It should be noted that on May 18, the heavyweight is scheduled to fight British Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24) for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion. The fight was originally scheduled for February 17, but the Gypsy King was diagnosed with a necropsy during a sparring session two weeks before the show. Tyson apologized for his injury, and a video of the incident was posted online. The Briton also made a statement about his retirement.

When asked about the fake nature of the injury, Usyk criticized the Gypsy King. In addition, the fans reacted angrily to the situation.
