Usyk detained in Krakow

Former world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk was denied boarding a plane at Krakow Airport after an airline representative deemed his condition unfit for flight. Since our compatriot categorically disagreed with this, he was detained by law enforcement officers.

This was reported by ESPN, citing its own sources. Usyk explained his condition by overwork, as he had spent almost 900 kilometers on the road in a car. Due to the language barrier and the boxer's unwavering position, an incident occurred between him and the airline representatives.

Together with the athletes, his wife Kateryna and coach Serhii Lapin Jr. were traveling to Valencia, where the Ukrainian will hold his training camp before his rematch with Tyson Fury. As a result, after the intervention of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Usyk was released.

Late at night, he recorded a video message to his fans saying that he was fine. "Dear friends, everything is fine. I am free. There was a misunderstanding," the boxer explained. At the same time, there is nothing in his speech to indicate that he is in an "unfit state".
