Famous figure skating coach Tatiana Tarasova did not agree with the statement that Ukrainian athletes are in a more favorable position than their rivals. After the automatic admission of fencer Olga Kharlan to the 2024 Olympics, she wished that Russian athletes would also be treated "with gentleness".

Tarasova said this in her commentary to the Metaratings portal. The representative of the aggressor country called the statement that "Ukrainian athletes are now allowed more than everyone else" a fabrication of journalists, and she lambasted the publication's propagandists.

"I would like to see such leniency applied not only to them, but to us as well. We, like everyone else, have to do everything by the rules. Why are Ukrainian athletes now allowed more than everyone else? I don't know that. And I don't think it's true. This is your invention," Tarasova said.
