"There is no doubt": Macron reveals what Russia is preparing to do with the 2024 Olympics

French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed confidence that Russia will do its best to influence the organization and conduct of the Olympic Games to be hosted by Paris this summer. According to the head of the Elysee Palace, the issue concerns not only the security of the competition itself, but also information operations.

Macron said this during the opening of the Olympic Aquatics Center in Saint-Denis, Sud Quest reports. According to the president of one of Ukraine's main allies in countering Russia's aggression, the Putin regime is trying to promote false narratives about the situation in the world every day.

"I have no doubt that Russia will try to disrupt the organization of the Olympics, including in terms of information. Every day, Russia throws into the information field claims that we will not do something. This is the risk. That is why we must stick together. Resilience, self-confidence, and respect for the truth are the strength of democracies and great nations," Macron said.

Earlier, the French leader caused a real hysteria among Russians after he called for a truce during the Olympics. Dictator Vladimir Putin hypocritically commented on Macron's words. He claimed that Russia allegedly "wants to build good neighborly relations between the two states," and called it "utter cynicism " for Ukraine's traitor Sergey Karyakin to demand that Russia stop killing Ukrainians.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), demanded that the 2024 Games be postponed from Paris after the city's mayor, Anne Hidalgo, said she did not want to see Russian representatives at the competition.
