"There are no takers": another Russian team withdraws from the 2024 Olympics
The Russian national archery team has become another team from an aggressor country that has refused to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The athletes allegedly decided not to accept the conditions for traveling to the French capital without the national flag and anthem.
This was stated by the head of the Russian Archery Federation Vladimir Yesheev in an interview with the propaganda news agency TASS. According to the official, his organization has approved some individual athletes to compete at the Olympics, but they have not expressed interest.
"Our athletes will not participate in the Olympic qualifiers. There are no people willing to play without the flag and anthem in the national team, especially since we have many representing CSKA and Dynamo. The federation's executive committee approved the athletes' participation in a neutral status, but they themselves did not express interest in going to the Olympics," Yesheev said.
Earlier, the Russian rhythmic and artistic gymnastics teams refused to participate in the 2024 Games. Surprisingly, their coaches also spoke up for the athletes. The only ones who publicly announced their decision were sisters Dina and Arina Averina. At the same time, these athletes ended their careers to spite the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Olympic speed skating champion Svetlana Zhurova accused the IOC of humiliating Russians and treating them "as second-class citizens."
