Former Ukrainian WBC welterweight world champion Viktor Postol (31-5, 12 KOs) believes that in the fight for all the super-heavyweight belts between Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and British Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs), the referee recorded the Gypsy King's knockdown a little prematurely. This gave Tyson the time he needed to recover.

After Fury's knockdown in the 9th round, Usyk's team and many experts had complaints about the referee. They said that he interrupted the fight not according to the rules, and then counted the British very slowly. And Postol agrees that American referee Mark Nelson saved Tyson at that moment.

"We can say that to a certain extent, the referee saved Fury, because the Briton had to fall to the floor or at least touch the floor with his hand or knee, and then they had to start counting. But he just somehow leaned on the ropes. And that's how the referee saved him and gave him time to recover," Viktor believes.

Postol was also confident in Usyk's victory, although people tried to convince him that the Briton had a better chance.

"Before the fight, many people asked me the question: what's your opinion? I answered that Oleksandr would win on points. And everyone else told me: "No, Fury will win". But I said that Sasha is much more technical than Tyson, more agile, and it will be difficult for Fury to box with Oleksandr," the athlete said.

Earlier, in a conversation with OBOZ.UA, the former Ukrainian champion explained how the referee helped Tyson and why it would be easier for him in the second fight.

It is known that Usyk was hospitalized after the fight with Tyson Fury. Promoter Oleksandr Krasiuk told the details of the boxer's jaw injury.

Usyk defeated Fury by split decision – 115:112, 113:114, 114:113. After the fight, the British fighter called the war in Ukraine one of the reasons for his defeat. Tyson also expressed his desire to visit Ukraine.

It became known that Usyk would lose the title of absolute world champion by early summer. This decision angered the British Tony Bellew.
