French meteorologist Patrick Marlière expects severe weather conditions during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games on July 26. For the first time in history, the show will be held outside the stadium, and the parade of athletes will be held on the Seine River.

In a commentary to RMC, Marlière predicted a real disaster at the opening of the Games, as heavy rain will fall two hours before the start of the French capital. The expert noted that the downpour could seriously affect the Olympic torch lighting ceremony.

"These next few hours will be a disaster. The rain will start between six and seven in the evening. 25-30 millimeters of precipitation expected to fall by midnight. This is equivalent to raining for several hours for 15 days in a row. It will be not the lighting of the Olympic flame, but its extinguishing. We have reviewed all the data several times. This situation cannot be avoided, the forecasts are confirmed," he said.

It should be noted that up to 360,000 spectators will be present on the banks and quays of the Seine during the opening of the 2024 Olympics. During the parade of athletes, the delegations will appear in front of the audience on boats.
