"That's all that matters". Haney reacts for the first time to what happened in the fight with Lomachenko

For the first time, absolute world lightweight champion Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) spoke about the scandalous result of his fight with Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs). The Ukrainian and many experts were outraged that the judges favoured the current titleholder. The word "robbery" was even used online in reference to Lomachenko.

Haney said he didn't care what people said. What is important to him is what the judges put down on paper.

"In the end, people can say what they want. The judges made a unanimous decision, and that's all that matters, judges. And all the judges were unanimous when it came to that decision, so I won and the rest is irrelevant," boxingscene.com quoted Haney as saying.

The 24-year-old Haney didn't think during the fight that he had to win the 12th round to be the winner.

"It wasn't just the 12th round that was key for me, when I felt I needed to win the round to win the fight. I knew it was going to be a close fight, so I tried to win every round," Devin concluded.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena lasted all 12 rounds and ended with a unanimous decision of 116-112, 115-113, 115-113 in favour of the American.

After the defeat, Lomachenko could not contain his emotions and burst into tears while waiting for the press conference.

It is worth noting that during the flash interview in the ring, Vasyl did not mention Ukraine, refusing to thank his homeland.

Fans from Russia defended Lomachenko, calling the refereeing a disgrace.
