The extraordinary reporting and election Congress of the UAF is to be held on January 25, 2024

The main contender for the post of president of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF), Andrii Shevchenko, will make Leonid Ashkenazi his first deputy, sport.ua reports. According to media reports, if Shevchenko wins the election, he will initiate the nomination of 60-year-old Ashkenazi for the post of first vice president.

The journalists clarify that there is preliminary information that Andrii Shevchenko intends to reduce the number of vice presidents to two, and the number of members of the executive committee will be significantly reduced. However, these personnel issues are still under discussion.

The extraordinary reporting and election Congress of the UAF is to be held on January 25, 2024.

Ashkenazi served as vice president of FC Dynamo Kyiv until January 2022. After the start of the full-scale invasion, the official illegally tried to leave for Moldova. On December 26, 2022, border guards confiscated Ashkenazi's permit to leave the country (since he was of mobilization age), cell phone, and passport, but he was not arrested.

On February 24 of this year, Ukrainska Pravda published an investigation indicating Ashkenazi's connection to the Russian criminal group Luzhnikovskoye. Ashkenazi stayed in Kyiv at the Premier Palace for more than two months for free. The hotel belongs to the Premier group of hotels owned by Natalia Selivanova, the common-law wife of Mikhail Voevodin, one of the leaders of the Luzhniki group close to the Kremlin.

The unofficial owners are Russians Alexander Babakov, Yevgeny Giner (president of CSKA) and Mikhail Voevodin. Babakov is the vice speaker of the State Duma of Russia. Voevodin is a "thief in law" and is under sanctions in Ukraine.

Ukrainska Pravda reports that Ashkenazi, while being of conscription age (59 years old, the conscription age is 18-60 years old), left Ukraine for Spain in November 2022 at the height of the war, thanks to a certificate from the Ministry of Defense indicating that he was an aircraft specialist.

According to Ukrainska Pravda, Ashkenazi met with various businessmen in Marbella, including those of Russian origin. He was visited by former Vice President of the Ukrainian Boxing Federation Dmytro Petrovskyi, who later drove Russian businessman Ilya Khaikin to the meeting.

The businessman has a British passport and plans to enter the construction business in Ukraine with Ashkenazi's help. According to Ukrainska Pravda, Ashkenazi's task in Ukraine is to solve problems related to Russian business in our country.

It should be noted that the current head of the UAF, Andrii Pavelko, is under investigation in a case of financial fraud and embezzlement of UEFA funds during the construction of an artificial grass plant, as well as the purchase of products for the then Football Federation of Ukraine. The official has been in jail since June 16.
