Russia will be represented at the 2024 Olympics by a "team of foreign agents"
The President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Stanislav Pozdnyakov, has criticized the tennis players who intend to compete in neutral status at the 2024 Games in Paris. He actually accused the athletes of treason and called them a "team of foreign agents" who do not support the policies of the Vladimir Putin regime.
Pozdnyakov wrote about this on his Telegram channel. The head of the ROC criticized the tennis players for their position on Russia's criminal war against Ukraine, as well as for earning money abroad and trying not to associate themselves with the Russian terrorist state.
"I disagree with the definition of 'team of homeless' in the case of tennis players who live abroad most of the time, earn money there, claim to be 'playing for themselves' and condemn their country's policy and the special military operation (as the Russian Federation shamefully calls the war against Ukraine - ed.) So, in my opinion, "team of foreign agents" is more correct. I sincerely respect the achievements of the masters on the courts, but from a human and civic point of view, our approaches to the current situation are diametrically opposed," Pozdnyakov summarized.
Earlier it became known that representatives of the Russian national swimming team will not compete at the 2024 Olympic Games. And the team's head coach, Sergey Chepik, called the Olympics a tournament of "NATO countries and their minions."
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Russian rowers announced their refusal to participate in the 2024 Olympics. And the governor of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov ordered athletes from the occupied peninsula to refuse to travel to the French capital.
