"Rudely and directly": Lavrov furious at IOC for not allowing Russia to get away with the war against Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has accused the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and its president Thomas Bach of politicizing sports. The diplomat also accused NATO countries of preparing for a "great war," forgetting that it was his country that viciously attacked Ukraine, and did so immediately after the 2022 Games.

Lavrov said this in an interview with the TASS propaganda news agency. The foreign minister of the terrorist state tried to justify the invasion of Ukraine by saying that "the West was doing things tens of thousands of miles away from its borders," demanding that the IOC lift any restrictions on Russia.

"The IOC is already using the situation around Ukraine to rudely and directly violate the Olympic Charter. The IOC has been ignoring everything the West has been doing tens of thousands of miles away from its borders. And they got away with it. And when Russia, after many, many years of warning the international community that NATO was preparing for a major war, and directly creating a military threat on the borders of Russia, the IOC decided to show its incomprehensible integrity in contravention of its responsibilities under the Olympic Charter," the IOC said.

Earlier, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov was mocked online when he said that athletes from Russia are incomplete without state involvement.
