"Performs all sorts of game": Russian boxer criticizes Usyk-Fury fight

Kuzmin criticized Fury

Russian heavyweight Sergey Kuzmin (19-2, 14 KOs) accused Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) of not taking his fight with Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) seriously, which led to the British defeat. According to the 37-year-old boxer, the Gypsy King, as the Manchester native is called, doesn't have much of a chance in a rematch.

Kuzmin said this in an interview with Vprognoze.ru. The Russian added that all of Fury's claims to the judges' notes of the first fight with Usyk look ridiculous and unfounded, and their purpose is to increase interest in the boxers' rematch later this year.

"The course of the fight can change on one condition, if Fury doesn't play around, but box in a normal and focused manner. He has a chance, but it's a slim one, given the fact that Alexander performed brilliantly. Fury's complaints about the judging are based only on a desire to stir up attention for the rematch. In general, the judges' verdict was logical. If Fury hadn't been so disingenuous, he would have performed well, but because of his psychological instability, he performs some kind of game in the ring. He wasted a lot of energy and emotions instead of concentrating on defense and attack," Kuzmin said.

We remind you that in the first fight, Usyk defeated Fury by split decision - 114:113, 113:114, 115:112 - and became the absolute world heavyweight champion.

A month after the fight , the Ukrainian was forced to relinquish the International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt, which was awarded to Anthony Joshua (26-3, 23 KOs) and Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs) on September 21.

Later it became known that the IBF left Usyk no choice. This situation angered the head of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Dana White. The Ukrainian himself commented on his decision for the first time. Fury and Usyk will rematch on December 21. The fantastic prize money for the second fight is already known.

Our compatriot shared his expectations from the second fight with Tyson and responded to accusations of fraud during the fight with Fury on May 18. In addition, Oleksandr commented on the injury he received in the fight.

The Ukrainian announced his radical plan to continue his career after the rematch with Tyson. Usyk named the most difficult moment of the fight with the Briton. Our boxer also spoke frankly about his opponent.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, coach Serhiy Lapin told what he expects from the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. The boxer himself returned to Ukraine and received a gift from the Armed Forces.
