Not a kick between the legs. Named the main problem that ruined the whole fight Usyk - Dubois

Former world champion in two weight categories Paul Malignaggi (36-8, 7 KOs) believes that the main problem in the fight between WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF heavyweight champion Alexander Usik (21-0, 14 KOs) and Daniel Dubois (19-2, 18 KOs) was the rain. According to the 42-year-old American, the wet ring spoiled the fight more significantly than the scandalous episode in the 5th round, when the Ukrainian was hit between the legs.

On his YouTube channel, Malignaggi criticized the lack of protection of the ring canvas from heavy rain at the stadium in Wroclaw.

"I don't think hitting below the belt is the biggest problem in this fight. My biggest problem is that the fight takes place outdoors in Poland, it rained heavily and the ring was not protected - it was completely slippery," said the expert.

Malignaggi has had experience boxing in the rain and has extremely negative memories.

"If you are dealing with water and it gets into the ring, you have the whole structure of the fight disrupted. I don't want to diminish the merits of Dubois and Usyk, they both had an interesting fight. But when you are a fighter whose whole tactics are based on footwork, and the ring is wet, it spoils everything. It is quite possible that a body kick could not even hit the target if the ring was dry. How can you organize a night like this and not protect the ring properly from this kind of rain? It ruined everything," the American was indignant.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the fight Usyk - Dubois ended in the 9th round, when the Briton missed a heavy blow to the head. In total, Oleksandr struck his opponent 88 blows to the body and to the head.

In the 5th round, the British boxer hit our compatriot below the belt. Usyk took 5 minutes to recover, lying in the ring.

Some time later there was video evidence that Dubois hit Usyk below the belt on purpose.

Usik's catman Anber later came to the Sky Sports studio, where he laid out this episode in the Ukrainian's fight point by point, citing undeniable facts of foul play.

The World Boxing Association (WBA) has issued a statement on the Oleksandr-Daniel fight scandal. The World Boxing Council (WBC) has also made a similar move.
