No longer a favorite: bookmakers in Britain have changed their quotes for the Usyk-Fury fight
The owner of the World Boxing Council (WBC) belt, Tyson Fury, is no longer considered a favorite in his fight against Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs). 5.5 weeks before the fight, British bookmakers updated their quotes, having equalized the opponents' chances of winning for the first time since the announcement of the grand confrontation.
Now, bets on the success of both boxers are accepted with the same odds - 1.91. At the same time, the odds on a draw remain unchanged and are measured by the quote 17.00.
Analysts also continue to have little doubt that the fight will last all 12 rounds. The odds of 1.40 are offered for this event.
At the same time, experts give more chances that the fight on May 18 will end in a knockout for the Ukrainian. Fury will end the fight early, with odds of 4.50. Usyk's similar success is estimated at 6.00.
Before that, Tyson promised to beat Usyk easily and also mentioned the war in Ukraine. In turn, Oleksandr told what he would do if the Briton refused to enter the ring on May 18.
In addition, the World Boxing Council (WBC) announced its intention to change boxing rules for the sake of the Usyk-Fury fight. And British fans suddenly began to give up on the chances of defeating the Ukrainian.
The legendary Lennox Lewis also spoke about the fight, urging not to write off the Ukrainian. In addition, the fees of Oleksandr and Tyson for the fight were announced.
Former world middleweight champion Carl Froch questioned the holding of the Usyk-Fury fight. And promoter Eddie Hearn intends to disrupt the rematch between the Ukrainian and the British.
In turn, former world heavyweight champion Steve Cunningham noted that Tyson faces disqualification in the fight with Oleksandr. It also became known that a Russian who fought for the Russian Armed Forces will take part in the Usyk-Fury show.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, promoter Oleksandr Krasiuk spoke about the problem with holding the fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury on May 18. And the British representative Bob Arum has already started talking about the boxer's possible refusal to rematch.
