The legendary Czech goalkeeper Dominik Hašek commented on the presence of Russians at the 2024 Olympic Games. The 59-year-old goalkeeper is very upset that 15 Russian athletes were allowed to enter Paris, albeit under a neutral flag.

According to Hašek, the appearance of any athlete from the Russian Federation during the Olympics or in the news is an additional advertisement for the war.

"Every Russian athlete is an advertisement for the war. And when you advertise war, it means more lives, more deaths, more injuries, so I am very disappointed that Russian athletes can compete there. It costs human lives, and I will always fight against it," idnes.cz quoted Hašek as saying.

The Czech is unhappy with the actions of his national Olympic committee, which "did very little to prevent Russian athletes from competing."

"They don't represent Russia directly, but they are Russian citizens, everyone knows that. It doesn't matter whether they have a Russian jersey or not, whether they play the Russian anthem or not. We know that they are Russian citizens and they are a great advertisement for the actions of their country, unfortunately, the actions of their country today are an imperialist war and other crimes, including the genocide of Ukrainian children," the former defender summarized.

It should be noted that this is not the first time Hašek has spoken out against Russian advertising in world sports in general and in the NHL in particular. In the spring of this year, Dominik Hašek once again emphasized that Alexander Ovechkin is a supporter of Putin and the war.

Recently, Hašek said that all Russian athletes are indirectly responsible for the dead in Ukraine.

As OBOZ.UA reported, after the start of the full-scale invasion, Ovechkin, who once founded the Putin Team movement, refused to speak out on the war in Ukraine. Because of this, the legendary Dominik Hašek called the Russian hockey player "cowardly shit."

Earlier, Dominic said that Russians have no right to compete in international tournaments "until they leave Ukraine and put Putin on trial." He also demanded that Russia pay reparations to our country.

It's worth noting that Hašek was accused of hypocrisy after taking part in the opening ceremony of an NHL game. In response, the former goaltender apologized for this step and called it a mistake.
