Lomachenko found his wife thanks to his mother: the spectacular brunette was a European vice-champion

Unlike most of his colleagues, former world champion in three weight categories Vasyl Lomachenko has not been publicising his personal life in recent years. The Ukrainian boxer does not post photos with his wife or children, nor does he shoot tik-toks. His non-boxing posts are mostly about religion or fishing. However, the fighter from Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi has a beautiful wife, who was also an athlete in the past.

On the eve of Lomachenko's big title fight against American Devin Haney, OBOZREVATEL decided to recall how the two-time Olympic champion found his soul mate.

Vasyl's wife Olena is a spectacular brunette. However, unlike other boxing stars, her social media pages are closed and she does not share details of her personal life with outsiders.

Olena, like Lomachenko, is from Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi and has a fairly successful career in sports acrobatics, being a master of sports and a silver medallist at the European Championships.

For years, the brunette had been training with her future mother-in-law, Tetyana Lomachenko, along with the boxer's sister, Anastasia. That's why she has known Vasyl, who regularly came to her mother's gym, since she was ten years old.

But the romantic relationship between the boxer and the acrobat began to develop later - during the athletes' training at the school, when Vasyl took a closer look at Olena and fell in love.

"Vasyl and Olena hit it off at the pedagogical school. Olena became a master of sports faster because acrobatics is a younger sport. She entered the school with a title and regalia, and received a salary because she was a member of the Ukrainian national team. And Vasya, having won the World Championships and a ticket to the Olympics, later caught up to her titles," Tatiana Lomachenko told bessarabiainform.

Already as an Olympic champion in 2008, Vasyl celebrated a modest wedding with Olena. In 2011, on the eve of the second Loma Games, Olena gave her husband a son, who was named Anatolii in honour of her grandfather. His godfather was the titled Ukrainian boxer, world champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Two years after Anatolii's birth, in July 2013, the young family was joined by a daughter, Viktoriia, who followed in her mother's footsteps and came to her grandmother's acrobatic gym.

"I really want to see Victoria compete in mixed doubles in an Olympic event and get her to the Olympics in our sport - that's my goal. Tolik, my eldest grandson, is now going to wrestling, and then maybe he'll go to boxing to see what he likes best," Vasyl's mother said a few years ago.

By the way, under the guidance of Anatoliy Mykolayovych, the grandson is already taking his first steps in boxing, and, according to eyewitnesses, very successfully.

Tetyana Lomachenko admitted that she used to tell her children how to raise their grandchildren: "Our mum, Lena, is an athlete herself, but as soon as the child gets sick, has a runny nose or coughs a lot, she may not bring Vika to training. I, of course, do my bit: "Lena, you've trained with a fever, right?"

"It's good that Elena is a person I have known since childhood. I can tell her everything and not even be ashamed. She is even offended and can say: 'You still think of me as a student, but I am your daughter-in-law for a minute' (smiles). I am happy because she is like a daughter to me, and I am not a real mother-in-law to her," says Tetyana.

It should be noted that earlier in his interviews, the boxer admitted that he dreams of building a large house so that it would have room for three or four children. While he has two children, Lomachenko has enough resources to build his own hotel in Zatoka, Odesa Oblast.

On the night of May 21, Vasyl Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs) will try to win all the lightweight belts for the second time in his professional career. After an unsuccessful attempt in October 2020 in a fight against Teofimo Lopez (18-1, 13 KOs), the native of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi will take on another American, Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KOs).

Before the fight in the United States, Lomachenko talked a lot about the war in Ukraine, but carefully avoided mentioning Russian aggression. At first, Vasyl said that only God can stop the war in Ukraine.

Then Lomachenko did not say the word "Ukraine" when he said who he would fight Haney for. And it all ended with Vasyl talking about "big, big problems" in Ukraine instead of talking about the war.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL told about the most scandalous fight of the Ukrainian boxer: Lomachenko got hit below the belt and lost.
