IOC closed the loophole for Russia to participate in the Olympics 2024

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will not organize additional qualifying competitions for the Games 2024 in Paris for Russian athletes. Representatives of the aggressor country complain a lot about the fact that they missed many qualifying starts because of the conditions of admission to the tournaments, but the IOC is not going to change the approved calendar.

The IOC said so in response to a request of the propaganda TV channel Match TV. The Committee noted that they would not force the international federations to hold competitions retroactively, so that athletes from Russia and Belarus could compete for a ticket to the Olympics.

"Some qualification competitions in a number of sports have already taken place. The IOC will not ask the international federations to retroactively adapt their qualification systems to allocate additional quotas to athletes with Russian or Belarusian passports who missed the opportunity to qualify. We have nothing to add to this statement," noted the IOC.

Earlier, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), called the criteria for admitting athletes from an aggressor country to international competitions "unacceptable and illegitimate.

Recall that the IOC recommended that federations suspend from competitions Russian athletes related to the Russian army and security forces, as well as team sports.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RHF) Vladislav Tretiak demanded the return of the aggressor country to international competitions, as "sport is an ambassador for peace."
