Joyce evaluated the fight between Usyk and Dubois

British boxer Joe Joyce (15-1, 14 KOs) admitted that he was almost disgusted when he watched the fight between Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and Daniel Dubois (19-2, 18 KOs). The 37-year-old former World Boxing Organization (WBO) world champion was unhappy that his compatriot, whom he knocked out in 2020, had previously had the opportunity to fight the Ukrainian.

Joyce said this in an interview with Boxing Scene. He accused the World Boxing Association (WBA) of failing to protect his rights when he held the organization's gold belt in 2019 and excluding him from the number of contenders for the full title, which Usyk took from Anthony Joshua (25-3, 22) in 2021. BEFORE).

"It was disappointing that the guy I beat convincingly got a chance before I did. And it bothers me that I was once a WBA gold champion, got penalized, and then fell completely out of the WBA line of contenders. I could have gone that route, but I chose the WBO route and I'm in the same position again," Joyce said.

We would like to remind you that the Usyk-Dubois fight ended in the 9th round when the Briton missed a heavy punch to the head. In total, Daniel missed 88 punches to the body and head from the Ukrainian.

In the 5th round, the British boxer hit our compatriot below the belt. After a while, evidence emerged that Dubois had deliberately hit Usyk in the forbidden zone.

Dubois' team appealed the outcome of the fight. The media published the text of the protest, in which referee Luis Pabon was accused of depriving the Briton of his championship belt.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, former world champion and now a reputable American trainer Jeff Mayweather criticized the referee of the fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois.
