Two-time Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Lidia Ivanova has elevated Russia to the rank of "the strongest power on the planet" and demanded that the ban on the aggressor country's symbols in international competitions be lifted. She called such conditions for the admission of athletes from Russia a humiliation.

Ivanova said this in an interview with the propaganda channel Match TV, commenting on the decision of the International Federation of Artistic Gymnastics (FIG) to return Russians to their tournaments in neutral status. The winner of the Melbourne-56 and Rome-60 Games expressed confidence in the fact that all federations allegedly dream about the participation of athletes from Russia in competitions.

"On the one hand, this is good news, but I'm afraid it will soon go out. I am always puzzled when we are obliged to perform in a neutral status. How long can it be? Why should Russia be belittled like this? After all, we are the strongest sports power on the planet! I think we need to compete only on equal terms with our rivals without any reservations. Everyone there wants to bring us back, but they are deprived of independence," Ivanova said.

Earlier, Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva, believed to be the mistress of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin, called the FIG's decision to return Russians to its tournaments insufficient, demanding that any restrictions be lifted.
