"He was robbed": Wilder speaks out on Usyk's victory over Fury

The absolute world heavyweight champion (22-0, 14 KOs) was deprived of an early victory over Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) in a fight on May 18. Instead of a standing knockdown, which the referee counted against the British boxer in the ninth round, he should have stopped the beating of the Gypsy King.

This opinion was expressed by former world champion Deontay Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs) in an interview with Boxing News YouTube channel. According to him, all boxing fans saw an incredible spectacle, and the Ukrainian boxer won a well-deserved victory, collecting all the belts of the Royal division.

"I think it was a great fight. It was unclear who would win until the end. I didn't know who would win, because I understand that someone can bite an opponent at any time. Oleksandr's bite was more painful than Tyson's. I believe that Usyk was robbed in the ninth round when he was not given a knockout. Gifts, gifts, gifts... But in the end, he won. I congratulate him and wish him all the best in the direction he's going to go," Wilder said.

It should be noted that referee Mark Nelson's decision to score Tyson a knockdown caused a lot of controversy. Former world champion David Haye harshly criticized the judge for his actions in the ring. In the video of the British reaction to the main moment of the fight, you can see his dissatisfaction. In turn, promoter Eddie Hearn pointed to a little-known rule that favors the American referee.

Earlier, former world champion Carl Froch named the main culprit behind Tyson's defeat of Alexander. He also expressed confidence that Usyk should end his career. And Fury's team called for the Ukrainian to be stripped of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt.

There were also three reasons why it is beneficial for promoters and organizations to leave all the belts to the Ukrainian. At the same time, our boxer's team will ask the IBF to make an exception for mandatory defense.

Fury has officially activated the rematch clause with Usyk. Bookmakers have already started accepting bets on the fight. They also disclosed the agreement under which the Ukrainian will lose the title of absolute champion.

Former boxer David Haye predicted that there will be no rematch between the Ukrainian and Fury. His compatriot Dereck Chisora started rumors that Oleksandr would return to the heavyweight division.
