"Finished. A story for life": Mahuchikh addressed the fans and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh thanked the defenders of Ukraine for the opportunity to have a historic season for herself and the country. The world record holder in the high jump noted that she now wants to have a good rest after winning the Paris Games and the Diamond League.
Mahuchikh wrote about this on her Instagram page. The 22-year-old native of Dnipro called the past competitive year incredibly intense and emotional and expressed confidence that the upcoming season will be no less productive.
"I have completed the 2024 competition season. This year has become the story of a lifetime, not only for me but also for my country. Now we have the world record and the gold medal at the Olympic Games in the high jump. I want to thank my entire team and fans for their constant support and faith. And to the military for protecting our country. I would like to say that if it were not for you, there would be no Ukraine, no anthem, no flag, no medals. We do a good job by winning awards. And you do a great job by winning. I believe that the 2025 season will be no less interesting, but I still have enough time to rest and surprise you again," Mahuchikh emphasized.
During the season, the Ukrainian athlete jumped 2 meters 10 centimeters and broke the record of Bulgarian Stefka Kostadinova, which had stood for 37 years. Last Friday, Mahuchikh won gold in the Diamond League final.
