"Complete refusal": Russia "abandons" participants of the 2024 Olympics

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) has refused to provide financial support to athletes who agree to compete in a neutral status. In addition, the aggressor country will not pay such athletes any prize money for their performance, including at the 2024 Games in Paris.

This was stated by the ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov, as quoted by Sport24. The official explained this decision by saying that athletes, by agreeing to the conditions of admission to tournaments, "abandon their Olympic Committee", which is not true. At the same time, the ROC is temporarily deprived of membership in the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

"The ROC completely refuses to fund athletes who want to become neutral. If an athlete decides to go to the Olympics, he or she needs to follow the IOC rules, where it is necessary to renounce his or her Olympic Committee. The payments we announced earlier will also not apply to those who have accepted the IOC's terms," Pozdnyakov said, once again destroying the propaganda myth that Russia "does not abandon its own."

Earlier, the IOC announced the admission of Russian athletes to the 2024 Olympic Games in neutral status in individual events. Olympic champion in rowing Sergey Fedorovtsev called such conditions humiliating.

In turn, Ukrainian Sports Minister Matvey Bidnyi called the IOC's decision to allow Russians to participate in the 2024 Games irresponsible and also named the condition under which our country will boycott the Olympics. The International Federation of Athletics announced the suspension of Russian athletes from the Games in Paris.

As OBOZ.UA reported, the president of the Russian terrorist state Vladimir Putin spoke about the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation in the 2024 Olympics and was ridiculed online.
