The profile of Lviv gymnast Maria Vysocanska on the official Eurosport website states that the city belongs to Russia. Eurosport is the official broadcaster of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

After the scandalous screenshots went viral on social media, Eurosport corrected the profile, removing the word "Russia."

The 21-year-old Ukrainian is the captain of the Ukrainian rhythmic gymnastics team in group exercises.

It should be noted that the places of birth of the other girls on the team are correct.

The athlete from Donetsk region also has no affiliation with Russia.

Maria's father, Oleh Vysoczansky, took part in the 242-day battle for Donetsk airport in 2015, where he was wounded. After the full-scale invasion began, he returned to the army and is now defending Ukraine in the Armed Forces.

In May 2024, Maria took part in the Olympic Torch Relay ceremony in France, where she led a team of athletes from 27 European Union countries.

Maria is a two-time European champion (2020), as well as a bronze medalist at the World Championships in Spain (2023).

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Ukraine's rhythmic gymnastics team took seventh place out of eight participants at the 2024 Olympics in the group all-around. Diana Bayeva, Alina Melnyk, Maria Vysochenska, Valeria Peremeta and Kira Shyrykina scored 65.700 points (36.500 for the 5 hoops performance and 29.150 points for the 3-ball 2-ball).

Vysochenska's father managed to escape the war with Russia to support his daughter at a rhythmic gymnastics competition in group exercises.
